Offline support

The internet drops. Service doesn’t.

A registered till keeps its menu, prices, open orders and a block of receipt numbers on the device. When the line goes, it keeps selling; when it comes back, every sale syncs in order and is applied once — kept on the device until the server confirms it.

What it does

Everything it does, in plain words.

  • Keeps selling

Counter, takeaway, café, bar and dine-in orders with modifiers and combos at cached prices.

  • Takes payment

Cash, and mobile money or card with a reference — the receipt says it was issued offline.

  • Syncs in order

Events upload in sequence with unique ids, so nothing is applied twice.

  • Conflicts with a policy

A price changed, a table taken, stock short: each of 20 cases has an explicit rule — never last-write-wins.

  • Always shows its state

Online, degraded, offline, syncing and failed — with the number of sales waiting.

  • Installs like an app

Add it to the home screen or install from Chrome or Edge; its Point of sale shortcut opens the till, even offline.

During the outage

A banner, a pill — and a sale

The till says it is offline and keeps going. Receipt numbers come from a block reserved for the device, so they never collide with another till’s.

  • Up to 100 open orders and 200 receipt numbers kept on the device
  • Wastage and store requisitions recorded offline
  • Time clock keeps working (marked unverified)

Afterwards

Every till’s sync, on the record

Each terminal’s last contact and sync runs are listed; anything a policy could not settle waits for a manager to acknowledge, retry or discard.

Questions, answered

What if the outage lasts longer than 72 hours?

After 72 hours offline the till stops taking new orders, so that prices and stock never drift too far; everything already sold stays on the device until it syncs.

Can two offline tills issue the same receipt number?

They are designed not to: each till gets its own reserved block of numbers while online and tops it up. If a clash ever happens, sync renumbers the receipt and records the printed number.
